Europeans started today - 8th place

Today the European Championship started in Oxelösund with two inshore races. The C class that we compete in includes 37 boats. The conditions were good with relatively strong winds fluctuating between 16 and 22 knots during the day. We came in place 10 and 7.5 in the two races and have a total score of 17.5 after day 1 and this gives an 8th place overall.

We are not fully happy with these results especially the 10th place in the first race. Our starts and the first upwind legs have not been good enough and this is something we need to try to improve. Our downwind sailing has been quite good however. Maybe our sail inventory did not fully cover the gap 18-22 knots wind either and conditions were likely not ideal for us. After the first leg our sailing has been ok but there are many things we can improve there as well.

The results after the first day are here: ORCi Europeans Results

After changing the schedule the plan now is that there will be an offshore race planned to take 10-12 hours tomorrow and this race will be very important to score well on as it will not be possible to discard the result from this race. We will do our very best to get a good score and it looks like we will have a bit less wind tomorrow.

Then Europeans will continue with two planned inshore races on Friday and then the regatta completes with the two final races on Saturday.
